Phoenix Tattoo Designs & Meanings:
The Phoenix is a mystical bird which features throughout a number of ancient civilizations and cultures. In ancient mythology, the Phoenix takes a prime spot in Arabian, Greek, and Roman culture. Basically, the Phoenix is a bird with a very special ability. The bird is made from fire, and as the day comes to an end, it bursts in to flame, and is reborn.
If you look back through ancient texts, this is the result of the sun. Each and every day, for no apparent reason (back then), the sun went down at dusk, and came back up again at dawn. To these ancient people, this was a Godly act, and one which with symbolized life after death, and the ability to be reborn from ashes.
Interestingly, the Christian faith soon claimed the bird as a symbol of their faith - as they believe that Jesus was reborn from the grave, and ascended to heaven.
Aside from religion though, the Phoenix in modern times is used to symbolize hope, life, and the ability for the body and soul to be transformed and saved no matter what happens.
